GO
GREEN AND SAVE YOUR
BANKRUPTCY
LAW FIRM $1,000s
The
process of taking a law firm to the "green" virtual stage is quite simple.
In a nutshell it works like this: The client comes to your office, signs
the retainer agreement and pays the attorney the fee for representation.
The attorney provides the client with a set of Client
Intake Forms and a copy of the Bankruptcy
Check List to take home and hand out.
After
the client fills out the Client Intake Forms, obtains their online credit
counseling and provides the attorney with copies of 6 months of their pay
advices and bank statements, the attorney forwards this information to
their virtual assistant. The attorney can forward these documents by scanning
and sending as a PDF via email, uploading to a secure server that both
the attorney and virtual assistant access, or by regular U.S. mail.
The
virtual assistant prepares the bankruptcy petition, calls the client to
obtain
any missing information, prepares an Attorney Cover sheet that summarizes
the case and returns the draft of the petition by PDF. The attorney reviews
the PDF, makes changes if needed and the virtual assistant finalizes the
petition and electronically files under the attorney's PACER username.
Due to increased costs, attorneys
nationwide are finding it essential to reduce their overhead in order to
maintain a profit. The best way to do this is to hire virtual bankruptcy
assistants who are highly skilled and professionally trained in preparing
Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy petitions. Below are some additional
reasons attorneys hire virtual bankruptcy assistants to compliment their
law firm:
 |
Attorneys do
not pay the standard overhead costs associated with hiring a full-time
or part-time employee. VBAs charge one flat fee just like the bankruptcy
attorney does. |

Attorneys do not pay for
services until they are satisfied with the quality of work produced by
the VBA. There is no financial risk for the law firm and the attorney can
find the quality he or she is seeking. |

Attorneys do not invest
in additional computer equipment or software. VBAs maintain their own and
are highly skilled in using their equipment and software or they would
not stay in business. |

Paralegals and other law
firm personnel are freed up to work on more complex cases. It is a known
fact that the typical employee preparing petitions in a law firm is interrupted
several times. This makes the information on the bankruptcy petition to
not be consistent and precise, resulting in errors. |

Attorneys eliminate the
need to train new employees. Most VBAs stay with the same attorney for
many years. Not only does this increase efficiency with bankruptcy petitions,
but VBAs get to know the clients, the local bankruptcy court and the attorney
which helps the build a reliable reputation. |

Training
Employees
Victoria
Ring was the first paralegal to develop an exam that accurately measures
the skills of law firm employees who prepare Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy
petitions. This exam can be personalized for your law firm's specific needs
and graded by Victoria Ring. This will allow you to pinpoint specific
areas that your employees need training in. Or, if you have new employees,
they can normally be trained virtually so that no travel and lodging expense
is required.
Improving
Efficiency of the Law Firm's Operations
Many
attorneys ask us to come to their office, spend a day or two with their
employees and help them to improve on their current procedures in order
to increase efficiency. Victoria Ring worked for the Columbus Bar Association
as a contract employee for over 10 years. Being exposed to a wide range
of law firms and an extremely wide range of office procedures, she has
been able to see how efficient law offices were run from the inside out.
This knowledge provided her with the ability to help almost any law firm
increase efficiency and develop a more streamlined operation, especially
in the area of converting from a paper office to an electronic office.
This conversion alone can save your law firm $1,000s per year.
